Ski Sundown: Put Some Spring In Your Ski Season

Ski Watch Reporter Paul skied at Ski Sundown in the Connecticut on Thursday, March 4. Here's what Paul had to say about his ski day:
Spring conditions dominated the day today here at Ski Sundown. Soft, damp corduroy by mid-morning with a filtered sunlight most of the time and some slush in the lift gates.
Surface for the early runs was actually pretty dry… a fast tracking corduroy composed mostly of very fine ice beads…what I call the ball bearing effect. There had been a very light overnight freeze which resulted in a cord surface that carved firm without any rattle or chatter.
Typical of most spring days, the surface morphed steadily into thick, damp loose cover. And by noon it was teeter tracking time.
The steep Gunbarrel trail held hard carved turns very well and a bump run was in the process of being machine built on one side of that trail for the weekend.
All is well in fairly steep Stinger terrain Park, which was also cruising decently between the rails, boxes and jumps.
The intermediate Canyon run was getting a little slow in its latter stretch. And it had heavy tracking loose cover later in the day. But otherwise it was a pleasant ride.
Temptor kept the most evenly distributed cover through the day. Check that one out for well controlled short sweet turns.

Overall, time to put a little spring in your ski season so wax up and bring along sunscreen!
