Ski Watch Reporter Jennifer spent a great ski day at Ski Sundown on Sunday, January 29. Here's what she had to say about her ski day....

Great day. Noisy start to the day with very hard base, icy, sort of a very hard firm pack with a crunchy granular covering, really noisy under your skis.

But that gave way to creamy and very nice as temps warmed up. Sundown has tons of snow. The rain (from Friday, 1/27) didn’t leave any bare spots. There is tons of snowpack at Sundown. Everything remained very well covered with a significant base depth.

We raced on "Gunbarrel." First run of the race was obviously very icy and firm and little slick for some of the kids. But then the second run, after temps got into the upper 30s, the conditions got grippy and actually really nice to ski on. You could really get your edges in and make great turns.

Great conditions after temps got a bit warmer.

Also went down the terrain park. That has about a half dozen features.

Base depth is very substantial compared to the natural snow areas off the trails. The trail is much above this and if you go off the side of the trail, you could be in trouble.

A real nice trail was “Tom’s Treat”, with great features for beginners. Also, that trail splits off into the woods into neat little trail "Papoose." That was our favorite run of the day.

On the bottom of the main terrain park, there are some nice bumps that when the sun hit them, they turned out to be great to ski.

"Canyon Run" as also a nice wide open intermediate cruiser. Had a lot of cover. Very impressive given the amount of rain we had last week.

Nice and creamy in the afternoon, very edgeable.
