Mohawk: Smooth, Easy Going Turns

Ski Watch Reporter Paul J. skied at Mohawk Mountain in Connecticut on Monday, February 22. Here's what he had to say about his ski day:
Well, excellent conditions at Mohawk today. Perfect corduroy to start the day…dry, fast and quiet and an afternoon of speedy skier tracked packed powder.
All trails were open with healthy bases and there were no problems with loose cover or exposed base. Weather cooperated too…sunny in the morning when the weather was cold. Then, slowly increasing thin overcast in the afternoon, which minimized any thaw factor.
Mohawk is in excellent shape heading into an iffy stretch of stormy weather midweek. (2/24-26) An all snow event could lead to some FINE weekend conditions.
It was a great day for smooth, easy going linked turns top to bottom on all major trails including Wildwood, which also offered a fairly serious stretch of moguls, 2/3 of the trail width at mid-run. A lot of variety in both bump size and pattern on that one.
There were no “standout” trails in terms of snow quality or grooming. It was as they say “all good”, but I enjoyed Timber and Arrowhead most for their extra width and the Mohawk trail for its snowmaking mounds.
