Ski Watch Reporter Brendan went boarding at Mount Snow, Vermont on Monday, January 30. Must be nice! Not all of us get to spend a Monday on the slopes. Here's what Brendan had to say about his ride day:
With only half a foot of natural snow over the last week the crews are working hard to keep the 45 out of 80 trails going and nicely groomed with a total of 340 acres to shred. The 3 inches of natural Sunday night (1/29) helped, leaving a nice layer of pow over the icy crust.
The temps started at 10 degree F with the wind chill and warmed up to a comfortable 29 F when the wind stopped. Today there was plenty of sun early on leading to overcast, then snow starting at noon.

The terrain parks were smoothly groomed and flowed nicely. The Mount Snow Park Crew makes the flowiest parks in the east IMO.
The new Bluebird Bubble Lift simply rocks. Especially with today's wind.
Stay away from Bear Trap today, it's all ice. (As of Monday, January 30, keep in mind conditions change with the weather.)
The open trails on the North Face were all good as long as you stayed on the edges. Long John was a little icy and the main face had spots of ice but mostly great cover. Deer Run was nice and soft.
The groomers are obviously working extra hard this year, making awesome terrain out of a season with little natural snow.
