Ski Watch Update – 2/26/16

Mother Nature is not making any east coast ski friends. Heavy mid-week rain and warm temps took their toll on ski areas in the region. Friday’s cold temps offered a chance for snowmakers to do some resurfacing. But the weekend looks sunny and uneasily mild. And that holds through next week. Get out and enjoy the white ribbon now, because it’s quickly disappearing. Still, area resorts will keep you entertained with some fun events.

Saturday Rail Jam at and Live Music at Mount Southington, CT

The Studio’s 4th annual Rail Jam takes over Mount Southington’s Hive terrain park this Saturday. Open to skiers and boarders of all ages, there will be lots of prizes in different categories. After watching the high flyers in the terrain park, relax in the Alpine Eatery with the acoustic sounds of Tom Scarola followed by the Tom Sanders Band. Learn more at mountsouthington.com

Sixties Day at Mohawk Mountain, CT

It’s all about peace, love, and tie-dye this Saturday at Mohawk. Hang out on the deck in your bell bottom jeans, get your face painted, and grove to sixties music. It’ll be far out, man! Get the skinny at details at mohawkmtn.com

Powder Ridge Hosts the Winter Special Olympics!

Athletes and Unified Sports partners from across the state will have the opportunity to compete in downhill skiing and snowboarding competitions. Find out more at powderridgepark.com

USASA Slopestyle and Rail Jam at Ski Butternut, MA

Some of the best skiers and boarders in the region will take over the Twisted Terrain Park at Butternut on Sunday. Competitors have to be a USASA member to participate, but that doesn’t mean you can’t spectate. Get all the details at skibutternut.com
